Searching for a “sonar cover” can bring up three very different accessories: a cover over the display, a cover around the transducer, or a visor around the screen. Start with the part you want to look after and when you will use the accessory. That makes the product choice much clearer.
What each accessory does
- Fish finder or graph cover: covers the display when it is not being viewed. Match it to the exact display model and follow its instructions for storage and transport.
- Transducer travel cover: fits the sonar transducer, which is separate from the screen. Select it by the transducer model and mounting arrangement.
- Fish finder visor: shades the screen while leaving it visible and usable. Choose a visor that fits your display and provides clearance for its controls and mounting position.
- Graph-cover strap: helps retain the display cover. It does not replace the cover or secure the entire fish finder to the boat.
Choose by the component, not just the brand
A boat may have a Garmin display, a separate live-sonar transducer, a trolling motor and several mounts. “It is for my Garmin” is a starting point, but the screen model and transducer model answer different fit questions. Record both before you shop. The same principle applies to Lowrance and Humminbird setups.

Separate fishing time from travel time
A visor leaves the screen open so you can use it. An opaque display cover belongs over a screen you are not trying to read. Before changing from fishing to transport, follow the display, mount and accessory instructions: stow the equipment as directed, seat the appropriate cover and check that its retention method is secure.
A transducer travel cover needs its own check. Remove it for sonar operation unless the exact product instructions explicitly allow in-water use. A photograph of a covered transducer on a boat does not establish that it should remain covered while fishing. Three questions before buying
- Which part am I covering? The display, transducer and cables are different items.
- When will I use it? Fishing, trailering and storage impose different requirements. Read the listing for the intended use.
- What else is attached? Check the bracket, cable exit, nearby controls and stowed position. Do not force an accessory around an obstruction.
If fit is uncertain, send the exact model names and clear photographs to product support before ordering. A screen diagonal alone does not establish that two devices share a housing shape.
Build a routine you will remember
Keep removable covers in a clean, consistent place during the fishing day. When you put them back, check the contact surfaces and the fit.
